I woke up this morning as Jacob walked into the bedroom. I told him good morning in the usual try-to-be-chipper voice. His response really woke me up. In a very serious tone he said, "You better come see this, Mommy." And he led me to the living room.
When a 3-year-old says something like that, your heart almost stops. I imagined a sea of dvd's not-so-carefully wrested from their cases by the always curious Jacob. Or perhaps a box of bisquick emptied onto the kitchen floor. Please don't let it be a broken lamp, I thought.
Luckily the situation was just that he had somehow messed up all the settings on the television to a point where he couldn't get the Disney channel on. I fixed it for him and all was fine. Well, until I told him that we had to turn off the television so that we could take a shower and get ready for school. Denied of his Doodle Bop fix he sulked his way back to our room. Poor kid.
Rest in peace, James. Yours was a great life. Thanks.
Yes, I went and bought Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Friday night at midnight. And yes, I finished it over the weekend. I'm a bit tired, was up late last night doing so. (I have chores to do around the house, you know.) It was great, highly recommended. Not for young kids, though.
Kirsten's sweet—she's quite a treat,
and such a little girl.
She dresses up, and paints her nails
and ties her hair in curls.
Jacob's grand—a little man
he keeps us on our toes.
He jumps and pops, he never stops,
he's always on the go.
Which brings us now (as we ask how)
to happy number three.
For 6 long months we've wondered what
this new bundle would be.
Another girl? Another boy?
What list of names to check?
Guesses of just which would be
were really neck and neck.
But now we know! The facts are in!
And filled we are with joy!
For in 3 months (with lots of love)
Welcome, another boy!

...or is this turning into a photo-blog?
Anyway, I took Kirsten with me to get a pedicure on Saturday. When I was done, I asked the girl if she could paint Kirsten's toenails as well—she wanted bright red. Of course she said yes. But it didn't stop with the toenails. When it was all done, well, see for yourself.
