Calling all booties
When Kirsten was about 3--as most kids when they're around 3--she started calling people names. The usual ones, "baby-cry" (instead of crybaby) and "stupid-head" just to name a couple. But her all-time favorite was "booty."
She would call Stan or myself booty quite often. Our normal response was something to the tune of, "Kirsten, don't call names." or "Kirsten, don't call me a booty." She had a normal response to that too, "I'm sorry, Booty!"
Over the long weekend Kirsten had a dose of that same medicine. Jacob is approaching his 3rd birthday and as such has started calling names as well. And not surprisingly, his favorite name is booty. Imagine how tickled Stan and I were to hear this exchange:
Kirsten: Jacob, that's my toy, give it here.
Jacob [throwing the toy at Kirsten]: Okay, booty!
Kirsten: Don't call me booty!
Jacob: Sorry booty!

My Summer Vacation (Part I)

On the first day of my summer vacation, I wrestled a 7' alligator...and I won!
One week into my summer vacation, I turned 6-years-old! To celebrate, I went to the beach. Where else? And oh yeah, my little brother Jacob was there too...but I still had fun.

Oh, Ladybug

What's this I see? It's not a bee!
It skims the blossoms gracefully
and flies at sleepy summer's pace
to each up-lifted flower face.
Oh ladybug, I wish you joy
as you complete your garden chores.
